Four men who reportedly attempted to escape from the Hawaii Community Correctional Center early Saturday face multiple charges.

The Hawaii Police Department reports that 26-year-old’s Malaki McBride and Kawaipuna Noa, along with 31-year-old Douglas Kaimiola and 23-year-old Ariel Jost were each charged with second-degree attempted escape and second-degree criminal property damage on Sunday.

Their bail was set at $20,000 each.

The four inmates allegedly broke through a door at about 2:05 a.m. Saturday that leads to a fenced recreational center at the jail on Punahele Street, police said.

The inmates were unable to escape and HCCC personnel detained them before notifying police.

Officials said Monday they remain in custody at HCCC.
